Job summary

ITW Welding in Appleton, WI seeks an embedded software engineer to design, build, test and debug real-time AI-enabled embedded software for digitally controlled welding equipment.

You will pioneer AI-assisted development workflows, explore tools, collaborate with electrical and product teams, and advance architecture and test coverage on multiple hardware platforms. An on-site role with relocation support, strong C/C++ expertise, and a drive to improve engineering practices are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Approximately 4–8 years of professional embedded software development experience.
• Strong embedded C/C++ development experience with real-time constraints.
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools in professional software engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and document embedded software across multiple hardware platforms.
• Write efficient, reliable C/C++ for hardware control and real-time systems.
• Apply AI tools to real engineering problems while maintaining code quality and security.
• Experiment with AI-assisted development workflows and translate useful tools into practices.
• Collaborate with embedded, electrical, systems, product, and project engineers.
