Job summary

ABB is seeking an ELSP Supplier Quality & Supplier Development Engineer in Mebane, NC. The role leads supplier assessments and develops corrective actions based on supplier performance, managing both onsite and offsite supplier quality activities along with KPI tracking.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering and at least 2 years of supplier quality experience, with proficiency in measurement tools and MS Office, and the ability to rotate across production areas.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with measurement tools (meters, calipers, gauges, etc.)
• Demonstrate understanding of quality procedures and concepts
• Demonstrated lean manufacturing participation; Demonstrated HSE participation and support.
• Must have the flexibility to rotate and flex to any area of production, as needed.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

• Manage operational supplier quality both on-site and off-site, ensuring thorough execution of supplier qualification and development processes.
• Manage the supplier's KPIs and scorecards, tracking performance and driving continuous improvement.
• Drive approval processes for supplier parts, materials, and project subcontractor services (PPAP and product surveillance at supplier sites).
• Address supply issues related to quality, deliveries, non-compliant products, or project services promptly.
• Collaborate with buyers to engage suppliers and prepare claims when necessary.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role as ELSP Supplier Quality & Supplier Development Engineer , you will have the opportunity to lead the execution of supplier assessments, drive both corrective and preventive actions based on supplier maturity and performance levels. Each day, you will manage operational supplier quality, both on-site and off-site, ensuring the thorough execution of supplier qualification and development processes. You will also showcase your expertise by managing the supplier's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Driving approval process for supplier parts, materials, and project subcontractor services, as applicable, involving collaboration with other functions/experts, encompassing activities like Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and product surveillance at supplier manufacturing sites.
• Leading in promptly addressing supply issues related to quality, deliveries, non-compliant products, or project services.
• Working together with buyers to engage suppliers and prepare claims cases when necessary.
• Ensuring required supplier development processes are thoroughly executed to drive continuous improvement of the supplier base.
• Track and monitor scorecards of supplier performances. Assign Corrective and Preventative Actions to improve supplier performances.
