Job summary

ABB in Mebane, NC is seeking an experienced inspector to inspect and test parts, products, and systems from suppliers and internal production, ensuring only compliant items are released to the next stage and delivered to customers.

You will perform first article inspections, review PPAP documentation, set up receiving inspection plans, and document nonconformances. Proficiency with gauges, CMM, ISO 9001 awareness, and ERP/MES (SAP) is preferred.

Qualifications

• Review supplier PPAP documentation for completeness against ABB requirements.
• Perform first article inspections on new and changed parts.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Operate measurement tools such as gauges and CMM to drawing requirements.
• Maintain supplier quality records and report nonconformances.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test parts from suppliers and internal production to ensure quality.
• Document nonconformances and initiate SCAR requests with the Supplier Quality Engineer.
• Set up receiving inspection plans and verify incoming material conformance.
• Coordinate MRB activities for nonconforming material.
• Collect and report incoming quality data and metrics (PPM, reject rate).

You will also showcase your expertise by employing standard test protocols and applying specifications to ensure quality.The work model for the role is: OnsiteThis role is contributing to the Smart Power division in Mebane, NC.You will be mainly accountable for:Reviewing supplier PPAP documentation for completeness against ABB requirements.Performing first article inspections on new and changed purchased parts.Tracking and updating PPAP status for new parts and engineering changes in the system.Setting up receiving inspection plans and verifying incoming material conformance.Inspecting purchased parts using gauges, CMM and other measurement tools to drawing requirements.Documenting nonconformances and initiating requests for SCARs to the Supplier Quality Engineer.Segregating, tagging and processing nonconforming material through MRB.Coordinating internal sorts, containment and rework of suspect purchased material.Maintaining supplier quality records, deviations and certifications in the QMS.Collecting and reporting incoming quality data and metrics such as PPM and reject rateOur team dynamics:You will join a dynamic, talented, high performing team, where you will be able to thrive. Being part of our team means your work matters - because the progress we make here creates real impact out there.Qualifications for the role:Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environmentAuthorized to work in the US legallyHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredStrong interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills, written and verbalPractical experience with applicable softwareFamiliarity with ISO 9001 standards preferred.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.Skilled in using measurement and inspection tools.Experience with non-conformance documentation preferred.Understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.Basic knowledge of statistical analysis tools.Experience with ERP or MES systems (SAP preferred).Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively across departments.Knowledge of continuous improvement tools preferred.What's in it for you?
