Job summary

City of Gainesville is seeking a seasoned ELR/Compliance Representative to support upper-middle-level managers in developing and administering employee and labor relations policies, while ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and public records requirements.

The role involves coordinating with unions, handling investigations, preparing reports, minutes, and training staff on policies, ADA, FMLA, and other regulatory processes in a collaborative government setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 2 years’ experience in employee or labor relations, policy, compliance, or HR.
• Alternatively, an Associate degree with four years of related experience; union experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the supervisor with administration of labor agreements.
• Answer Labor Relations inquiries and provide information on the CBA and City policies/procedures.
• Coordinate meetings between union officials, employees, and management to facilitate dispute resolution.
• Assist with confidential investigations into employee complaints by researching and providing relevant information.
• Gathers information, reviews and compiles complex files for grievance proceedings, arbitrations, and hearings.
