Job summary

Saltbox is opening its first Chicago-area location in Elmhurst, and we’re hiring a General Manager who will own the location as a business from day one. You’ll build the team, set the operational playbook, manage occupancy, revenue, and member relationships, and partner with the Market Leader to scale a new market.

This is a fully onsite role with end-to-end ownership and high accountability. You’ll be trained on Saltbox playbooks, systems, and tools, and you’ll lead a small team through launch

Qualifications

• 3+ years managing a physical location or operations environment as a general manager or similar.
• Curiosity about AI and willingness to build it into management.
• Business ownership mindset with focus on outcomes and numbers.
• Strong people development and ability to grow others.
• Customer/Member relationship skills with empathy and authority.
• Clear, direct communicator; able to set expectations with leadership.
• Operational instincts; diagnose patterns and fix at system level.
• Comfort with financial basics: occupancy, labor cost, and margin.

Responsibilities

• Own the location’s business performance: occupancy, revenue targets, and budget adherence.
• Review location performance weekly and raise issues to the Market Leader.
• Manage labor costs, budgets, and vendor relationships within parameters.
• Build and develop the local team; hire and onboard as needed.
• Lead member tours, onboarding, and high-value prospect conversations.
• Represent the location in strategic planning and SOP adherence.
• Use Saltbox tools to monitor performance and drive improvements.
• Maintain a high standard of customer experience and operational health.
