Job summary

Tindley Summit Academy seeks an English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher to deliver English development instruction in small groups and individually, aligning with Title III requirements. You will work under the supervision of the principal and collaborate with ELL Coordinator and general education teachers.

Candidates should hold a valid teaching license, a Bachelor's degree in Education (Master's preferred), and have experience serving urban, low-income students.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Education or related field preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field required.
  • Must have a valid teacher's license.
  • Teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide language instruction to English Learners in an inclusive setting.
  • Advocate for the needs of ELL with teachers and leaders.
  • Administer the WAPT, WIDA SCREENER and WIDA ACCESS.
  • Support the ELL coordinator with professional development.
  • Be a resource for colleagues specifically in regards to the needs of ELL students
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines for ELL students (IDEA, LAU, ESSA).
  • Keep records of language instruction and content instruction for each ELL student.
  • Monitor student language progress?
  • Build relationships within school community e.g. parents, guardians, community stakeholders
  • Collaborate with teachers to modify and adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of all ELL students.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the ELL Coordinator and building principals.
