Job summary

United States Forest Service is seeking a wildland firefighter to support suppression and management on a fire crew in California. The role requires meeting federal qualification standards and may involve work on engines, hotshot, helitack or hand crews.

Applicants must provide documentation showing proficiency in required NWCG core requirements (FFT1 and S-290) and an IQCS Master Record. A physical fitness test is part of the selection process.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GW-04 in federal service or
• successful completion of a 4-year course of study in Fire Science/related field or combination
• experience and education may be accepted.

Responsibilities

• Patrol areas of controlled fires to mop-up and extinguish remaining material.
• Serve on a fire crew to suppress a range of fires and operate suppression equipment such as pumps and torches.
• Perform duties on engines, hotshot, helitack or hand crew as assigned.
