GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Elite Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality professional services focused on the guest’s total look, supporting the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM). This role emphasizes performance (sales, productivity), people (guest service), and process (operating procedures and compliance). A passion for beauty, exceptional service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Elite Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, performing the following duties and other assigned projects:

Performance

• Perform hair services including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Meet or exceed a weekly sales goal of $1900 and productivity targets through exceptional guest service and contributing to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrinkage reduction.
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits to guests.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

People

• Develop relationships with guests through consultations and personalized recommendations.
• Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams to provide comprehensive guest service.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow service protocols to ensure consistent guest experiences.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively.
• Communicate supply needs to the EM to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the salon and store areas.
• Adhere to the dress code and loss prevention practices.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Cosmetology license

Experience: Relevant prior work experience required

Skills:

• Proficiency in latest salon techniques across all service categories and ability to develop skills further.
• Knowledge of equipment and chemical use.
• Ability to demonstrate and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Capability to build and maintain client relationships.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Mobility and physical ability to perform tasks during shift.
