Job summary

Alpha School in California seeks a high-impact Student Excellence Coach to motivate, coach, and push students to elite standards. You will spend about 40% of your week on one-on-one and small-group coaching, 40% on life-skills workshops, and 20% on opening routines that set a high-performance culture.

This is a student-facing role focused on direct impact, not curriculum design. Qualifications include a bachelor's degree, 3+ years in coaching or leadership roles, and the ability to deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and exceptional achievement in a highly selective domain.
• At least 3 years of experience in student coaching or related leadership roles.
• Ability to design and deliver multiweek life-skills workshops with progression and measurable mastery.
• Willing to work in-person at an Alpha campus across multiple locations including CA, CT, FL, NY and relocation support.

Responsibilities

• Running 1-on-1 and small-group coaching using Coachbot analytics to diagnose blockers, set ambitious goals, and hold students accountable.
• Delivering structured life-skills workshops built for mastery with credible storytelling and mastery assessment.
• Setting the cultural tone each morning through focused kickoffs that reinforce high-performance expectations.
• Tracking student progress in real time and adjusting coaching strategies based on data.
• Building trusted mentor relationships with students and families through high standards and documented motivation plans.
