Job summary

Reed Construction in Chicago seeks an experienced Superintendent to lead day-to-day on-site operations, coordinate subcontractors, ensure safety, and manage project timelines and budgets. You will work with project management staff and owners to maintain high quality on large commercial projects.

The role emphasizes strong leadership, proactive problem-solving, and effective communication, with a focus on safety, scheduling, and cost control across multiple deadlines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of superintendent experience.
• Experience on large projects required.
• Commitment to high-quality work and zero punch lists.
• Ability to lead on-site project teams and manage multiple deadlines.
• Punctual and respectful of others’ time.
• Goal-oriented with quick adaptation to changing circumstances.
• Proactively identifies and addresses on-site issues.
• Organized with strong attention to detail and cost awareness.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; thorough documentation.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with PM software a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership and maintain positive on-site morale.
• Understand project specs, drawings, addenda, and code requirements; report issues promptly.
• Serve as primary contact for management, subcontractors, owners, engineers and architects.
• Organize and supervise on-site work; delegate tasks and source future outlets.
• Obtain permits, COIs, schedules, and safety documentation; post safety notices.
• Ensure site safety and security; coordinate OSHA inspections and corrective actions.
• Attend safety seminars and management meetings; report progress to stakeholders.
• Use project management software to provide real-time data for decision making.
• Maintain professional relations with the public; conduct oneself accordingly.
