Job summary

Serco is seeking an Advanced Marine Welder to support US Navy ships and C5ISR installations in Virginia. You will fabricate, assemble, and install electromechanical assemblies, operate heavy welding equipment, and maintain strict safety standards on shipboard environments.

The role requires 5+ years of shipboard welding, DoD security clearance eligibility, and the ability to travel up to 10% while working onsite in Chesapeake, VA.

Qualifications

• DoD Secret clearance is required or able to obtain
• U.S. Citizenship required
• High School Diploma/GED
• Minimum 5 years shipboard welding experience
• Must be able to access NAVSTA & DBIDS, background check, and drug screening
• Must complete Serco welding procedures and pass pre-certification weld test
• Own tools of the trade and pass company weld test
• Respirator qualification and PPE compliance
• NAVSEA familiarity in electrical repair, fabrication, and installation
• Must travel up to 10%
• Work onsite in Chesapeake, VA

Responsibilities

• Assemble metal pieces or repair metal components using heavy machinery
• Review blueprints to guide fabrication and assembly
• Cut metal to the required shapes
• Smooth metal surfaces to remove creases
• Climb shipyard stairs, lay out cable runs under decking, lift up to 50 lb with 40 lb sustained
• May train personnel on machinery tools and test equipment
