Job summary

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is hiring Federal Air Marshals to protect commercial flights and safeguard passengers from terrorism and other threats. Marshals operate both on the ground and in the air, often with irregular schedules and travel requirements.

Applicants must meet stringent eligibility, possess discretion and judgment, and be prepared for rigorous training and ongoing firearms proficiency. Full‑time positions with federal benefits follow the SV‑F pay band.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible experience demonstrating problem solving, planning, organization, and effective written and verbal communication.
• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• A qualifying combination of post‑secondary education and relevant experience.
• Review transcripts if education is used to qualify.

Responsibilities

• Protect commercial passenger flights from terrorist activity, aircraft piracy, and other threats.
• Work discreetly aboard domestic and international flights.
• Assess developing situations and respond with limited backup.
• Carry a firearm and maintain firearms proficiency for federal duties.
• Conduct law enforcement, investigations, and advisory activities.
• Identify and interview witnesses or suspects when required.
• Make arrests and execute warrants within legal authority.
• Participate in multi‑agency operations with federal, state, and local partners.
• Support ground‑based transportation security and counterterrorism missions.
• Perform other specialized assignments, including Counter‑Unmanned Aircraft Systems operations.
