Job summary

Newport Harbor Island Resort in Newport, Rhode Island, is seeking a Banquet Manager to lead and coordinate high-end events in a fast-paced environment. You will hire and train banquet staff, schedule monthly meetings, and model service etiquette while supervising the setup of linens, silver, china and glassware to meet event specifications.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory/management experience.
• 2 years banquet management experience preferred.
• Previous hotel food and beverage experience preferred.
• Ability to lead and manage a team.
• Requires computer skills.
• Strong business communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate banquet events end-to-end.
• Hire and train all banquet staff, including scheduling and monthly meetings.
• Illustrate proper techniques and etiquette for all styles of service.
• Supervise setup of functions: linens, silver, china and glassware per event specs.
• Visually inspect function rooms and equipment for cleanliness and inventory.
• Collaborate with culinary, sales and operations to ensure success.
