Job summary

State of Alaska in Anchorage seeks an Eligibility Technician 4 to lead a team performing Title IV-E and Medicaid eligibility determinations for children in state custody. Qualifications

This position is open to current State of Alaska employees only.

What you will be doing

As an eligibility supervisor in the Department of Family and Community Services you will be responsible for leading, supervising and organizing a team that provides Title IV‑E and Medicaid eligibility determinations for children in custody of the state. You will be responsible for quality assurance, staff development, management and ensuring overall accuracy and timeliness. This position works closely with a variety of units within the Division to develop and maintain a strong workforce.

Working environment you can expect

This is a high‑paced position in a typical office setting in Anchorage, AK. This position supervises a unit of 5 staff; the unit requires a high-level of independence yet also must connect and work closely as a team. This work exposes you daily to detail surrounding alleged and confirmed child neglect or abuse so the team aspect of this unit can be important to ensuring self‑care.

Special Note

• All positions require a valid Alaska driver’s license and successful completion of a background investigation, including fingerprinting and a criminal records check.
• Additionally, while the Division does have vehicles assigned to it, they may not always be available for staff use. Mileage reimbursement is available when a personal vehicle is used for work‑related matters. Current automotive insurance must be in place prior to use of a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the State.
• Relocation reimbursement costs may be provided by the State of Alaska.
• For positions in this job class, a child protective history check will be performed per AS 12.62.160 and/or 13 AAC 68.315 including a background and fingerprint check.
• The successful candidate may be required to attend multiple training courses normally located in Anchorage.

Additional Required Information

• A copy of academic transcripts (unofficial are acceptable but must include the institution name/URL on documents provided) if required to meet minimum qualifications.
• Copy of your two (2) most recent performance appraisals; if unavailable, two (2) documented supervisor letters of reference may be substituted.
• A list of three (3) professional references including daytime telephone numbers and email address; at least two (2) of these must be from a current or former supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

• One year of experience as an Eligibility Technician 2 with the State of Alaska or its equivalent with another employer and one year of lead or supervisory experience in any job.
• One year performing similar work that developed knowledge and skill in leading staff that apply program requirements while working with client customers in stressful situations.
• Post‑secondary education in such fields as sociology, social work, psychology, counseling, human services, vocational rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, behavioral sciences, business, public administration, or accounting may substitute for the required experience (undergraduate credits: 2.67 semester/4 quarter hours = 1 month).
