Job summary

The Office of Public Advocacy (OPA) in Alaska seeks an Eligibility Technician 2 to provide timely eligibility determinations and benefit applications for Social Security, Medicaid, and public assistance programs for guardians and vulnerable Alaskans.

Based in Anchorage, you will use EMS, EIS, NSTAR, and MS Office to manage new applications and renewals while coordinating with statewide guardians and agencies.

Qualifications

• Proficient with multiple systems or able to quickly become proficient with EMS, EIS, NSTAR, and Microsoft Office.
• Able to track and complete renewal notices and recertifications for public entitlement programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform timely and accurate eligibility assessments and benefit applications for Social Security, Division of Public Assistance, and Title XIX Medicaid programs for clients of the Public Guardian.
• Track and renew notices/recertifications; support guardians statewide.

What You Will Be Doing

The Eligibility Technician 2 position is responsible for timely and accurate eligibility assessments and benefit applications for Social Security, Division of Public Assistance, and Title XIX Medicaid programs on behalf of clients of the Public Guardian. The ET must be proficient with or able to quickly become proficient with multiple systems including, but not limited to Estate Management Software (EMS), Eligibility Information System (EIS), the Department of Labor Employment System, the Department of Revenue Child Support Enforcement computer system, NSTAR, and Microsoft Office programs. In addition to new applications, this ET position is responsible for tracking and completing renewal notices and recertifications for these public entitlement programs. The ET Position will be supporting guardians statewide.

With offices in Anchorage, Juneau, Fairbanks, Kenai, Palmer, and Bethel, OPA advocates for abused and neglected children in protective proceedings, provides public guardianship for incapacitated adults, and provides attorney services for respondents in adult guardianship proceedings, for parents in child in need of aid cases, and in conflict criminal cases received from the Public Defender Agency.
