Job summary

The County of Wabasha in Minnesota seeks a Welfare Financial Worker-Income Maintenance to determine initial and ongoing eligibility for income maintenance programs in the county office.

You will meet with applicants, process Day Care Assistance applications, determine eligibility, approve MEC2 claims, and coordinate foster care/Medical Assistance packets while mentoring MEC2 processes.

Qualifications

• Three years of clerical experience and/or experience working with the public.
• Or two years of clerical experience in a social services agency.
• Or two years of college study at an accredited two or four year college or university or similar institution.
• Ability to take the initiative to research case problems and recommend appropriate action.
• Must have the ability to maintain good working relationships with clients and co-workers.
• Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform mathematical computations with accuracy.
• Must possess good computer based skills.

Responsibilities

• Meet with applicants/clients to determine initial and on-going eligibility for the income maintenance programs.
• Receive applications for all phases of the Day Care Assistance program caseload, determine eligibility, approve claims and enter into MEC2.
• Assume Mentor role for the Client and Provider portion of the MEC2 Child Care Assistance program.
• Coordinate and monitor foster care placement IV-E and Medical Assistance packets and advise staff of status of payments for children in placement.
• Determine eligibility for Rule 25 CCDTF funding for clients.
• Interact with the Human Services Board, service providers and other social services staff.
• Service clients eligible for MFIP/DWP or Basic Sliding Fee Day Care Assistance.
• Assist staff in timely entry of data into the MEC2 system for reporting and budgeting.
