Job summary

UCLA Facilities Management is seeking an experienced Elevator Mechanic to service and repair elevator electro/mechanical systems on campus. The role involves diagnosing faults, replacing components, and ensuring compliance with safety and building codes.

Candidates must hold California licenses for conveyance and have ability to interpret wiring diagrams, perform safety tests, and respond to emergencies. The position is full-time, on-site, with union affiliations and morning shift.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of hydraulic, electric, gearless elevator systems and control concepts.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and diagnose faults accurately.
  • Familiarity with LA/CA codes and safety standards for elevators.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, inspect, test, repair, install, and modify elevator systems.
  • Dismantle and replace components and wiring as needed.
  • Conduct yearly safety tests and report findings to supervisor.
  • Prepare work orders, logs, and status reports, and respond to emergencies.
  • Follow safety procedures and keep job site clean after completion.
  • Communicate repair progress to supervisor and stakeholders.
