Job summary

Otis Elevator Company in Florence, SC seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to create and modify 3D models and drawings for elevator components. You will communicate across engineering and internal customers to ensure robust designs and effective problem solving.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3 years of design or drafting experience.
• Experience with Creo 10 or higher.
• Proficient in programming, with hands-on experience writing, editing, and troubleshooting code using Notepad and other text-based development tools.
• Component, Assembly, Subsystem, and System Modeling.
• Clearance and interference studies.
• Use of advanced mathematics techniques for part fitment and design feasibility.
• Experience with defining welding, GD&T, Tolerancing, material specifications and finishes within drawings and models.
• Parametric Design and programming.
• Collaboration with Engineers and internal customers.

• Works at pace with multi deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Provide design support to internal and external customers.
• Modify and develop new component solutions to increase product robustness.
• Support resolution of engineering issues.
• Develop component and system level models and drawings.
• Support cost reduction efforts.
• Support FTB reduction.
• Support Engineers with 3D studies and prototyping.
• Support engineering CN process.
• Support to system level model updates.
