Job summary

Midtown Elevator Co Inc in New York City is seeking an experienced Elevator Service Technician to maintain, inspect, diagnose, and repair elevator equipment, ensuring safe and compliant operation under NYS/ NYC regulations and OSHA guidelines.

The role involves troubleshooting electrical/mechanical issues, performing preventive maintenance, completing safety inspections, and providing clear service updates to building owners and managers on a regular basis.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Active New York State or New York City Elevator Mechanic License.
• CET certification preferred, unless jurisdiction does not require it.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and correct electrical, mechanical, traction, and hydraulic issues affecting elevator systems.
• Perform routine maintenance, equipment adjustments, and preventive service.
• Complete required safety inspections in accordance with NYC Department of Buildings and New York State standards.
• Conduct annual and periodic testing of safety components and confirm that all devices operate properly.
• Respond to regular and emergency service requests.
• Participate in the company’s rotating on-call schedule.
• Document completed work through service reports, inspection records, maintenance logs, and compliance paperwork.
• Assess equipment conditions and provide recommendations for repairs, upgrades, modernization, or replacement.
