Job summary

City of Cleveland is seeking an Elevator Inspector to ensure passenger and freight elevators comply with safety laws and regulations. Under general supervision, you will inspect elevators, safety devices, and related components.

You will record responsibilities, determine responsible parties, investigate violations and accidents, and maintain comprehensive records and reports. Applicants must have a high school diploma, three years of relevant experience, ability to lift 30 pounds, and a valid

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required.
• Three (3) years of full-time paid experience in elevator installation, construction, inspection, or repair.
• Must be able to lift and carry at least 30 pounds.
• A valid State of Ohio Driver's License is required.

Responsibilities

• Inspections and tests of elevators, safety devices, governors, counterweights, hoisting cables, and appurtenances for compliance with laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.
• Determines and records the person responsible for elevator operation at a premise.
• Investigates reported violations and complaints.
• Investigates elevator accidents.
• Maintains records of inspections and findings, and maintains other records.
• Makes reports of inspections and findings.
• Prepares other reports.
