Job summary

Block by Block is seeking a Safety Ambassador for an overnight shift in Honolulu, HI. Earn $26 per hour with weekly pay, pay advances, and strong benefits. You will patrol assigned zones on foot or bike, help pedestrians, document observations, and assist with local safety efforts.

Applicants should have security experience, a Hawaii Guard Card, and a high school diploma or GED. The role supports retirees and students, with uniforms provided and opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/or bike to deter unwanted behavior.
• Provide information and directions to pedestrians and visitors with a professional demeanor.
• Identify and report suspicious activity to authorities using established methods.
• Request compliance with low-level quality-of-life rules politely and firmly.
• Engage pedestrians with friendly greetings to offer city information.
• Visit zone businesses to share information and collect contact details.
• Complete daily task reports in English.

What You'll Be Doing

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/or bike as a deterrent and be on the lookout for unwanted behavior and activity.
• Provide information, assistance and directions to pedestrians and visitors. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to local authorities via established communication methods. Must be able to articulate an accurate description of persons, vehicles, and other identifiers.
• Firmly and courteously request compliance to persons violating low level quality of life crimes, such as panhandling, loitering, disruptive behavior, etc.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and city information.
• Responsible for making a specified number of visits to zone businesses to share information and gather contact information.
• Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed which requires being proficient in speaking, reading and writing the English language.

Requirements

• Security Experience required.
• Valid Hawaii State Guard Card
• Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse (including riding a bike) continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions (free uniforms provided)
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.
