North Carolina State University is seeking a Personal Development Coordinator for Students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) to support Elevate participants in Raleigh, NC. The role focuses on one-on-one advising, wellness planning, and person-centered goal setting to foster independence and self-advocacy throughout the college experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of effective practices for teaching and supporting individuals with disabilities, including inclusive practices, person-centered planning, and self-determination, interpersonal communication, independent living, and career development strategies.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and university staff to support students in achieving their personal goals.

Responsibilities

• As a key member of the Elevate team, you will provide teaching and individualized advising focused on physical and emotional wellness, personal development, and success throughout the university experience. Working closely with students, peer coaches, and program staff, this role facilitates a person-centered planning process that connects each student’s goals with their individual strengths, interests, and aspirations.
• You will help students identify meaningful goals, develop strategies for achieving them, and make informed decisions that support their continued growth and self-determination. Through consistent guidance and collaboration, the position helps students navigate the university experience while developing the skills and confidence needed to achieve their personal development goals.
