Job summary

Wethersfield Public Schools seeks a motivated Tutor to support students at Highcrest Elementary School for the 2026-2027 academic year. The role involves one-on-one and small-group instruction, tracking progress, and coordinating with Reading staff to tailor interventions while fostering a positive, inclusive classroom climate.

Start Date: ASAP. Work year is 192 days (late August to mid-June) with compensation of $28.00–$33.02 per hour for a position under 30 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum of an Associates' Degree.
• Elementary Teacher certification is preferred, but not required.
• Enthusiasm for helping children.
• Respectful attitude.
• Ability to manage plans and drive positive results.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with students to provide targeted one-on-one/small group instruction or push into classrooms.
• Provide students with positive feedback and encouragement.
• Track and maintain records of student progress.
• Collaborate with Reading Consultant and Reading Interventionist to communicate goals/achievements, progress, student challenges, and changes in interventions.
• Foster a positive learning environment that is sensitive to student needs and promotes increased learning performance.
