Job summary

Waco ISD is seeking a temporary Tutor at Crestview Elementary. You will provide 9 hours of subject tutoring under the classroom teacher, with wages of $12.50 for non-degreed and $16.00 for degreed staff, paid at-will.

Responsibilities include implementing targeted lessons, assessing progress, and maintaining records, under supervision. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree or 9 hours in the subject, and a Texas teaching certificate or equivalent; strong instructional skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 9 hours in the tutored subject.
• Texas teaching certificate with endorsements or 9 hours in subject.
• Demonstrated competency in the core subject area.

Responsibilities

• Follow the classroom teacher’s instructional design for each student.
• Implement tutoring targeting areas of need as designed by the teacher or specialist.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional activities reflecting students’ needs.
• Conduct ongoing formative assessments and report results to the teacher.
• Document daily tutoring sessions, times, and skills addressed.
• Maintain a daily Extra Duty Request form if required.
• Create a learning environment conducive to student development.
• Consult with teachers on managing student behavior per plans.
• Take precautions to protect students and materials.
• Establish open communication with students, principals, and teachers.
• Maintain professional relationships with staff and students.
• Present information clearly and accurately.
• Compile and file reports and records as required.
• Be a positive role model and support the district’s mission.
