Job summary

Guilderland Central School District seeks an Elementary Teaching Assistant to support a Comprehensive Skills Class and assist the classroom teacher in delivering individualized instruction for diverse learners at PBES.

The role involves implementing IEPs, aiding with small groups, and providing behavioral and emotional support in a collaborative, inclusive setting. Experience in education and NY TA certification eligibility are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• NYS TA Certification Level I-III or eligibility to obtain certification.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Eligibility to obtain certification (if not currently certified).

Responsibilities

• Support the classroom teacher in implementing IEPs for students.
• Assist in delivering instructional activities and supporting small group or one-on-one learning.
• Help students develop independence in academic, social, and self-help skills.
• Provide behavioral and emotional support using positive reinforcement and strategies.
• Assist with personal care needs as required (toileting, feeding, mobility).
• Prepare and organize classroom materials and learning centers under teacher direction.
• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and non-instructional times.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and staff to maintain a supportive learning environment.
• Collect and record data on student progress and behavior as directed by the teacher.
• Participate in professional development and staff meetings.
