Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Eligibility to obtain certification (if not currently certified).

Responsibilities

• Support the classroom teacher in implementing IEPs for students.
• Assist in delivering instructional activities and supporting small group or one-on-one learning.
• Help students develop independence in academic, social, and self-help skills.
• Provide behavioral and emotional support using positive reinforcement and strategies.
• Assist with personal care needs as required (toileting, feeding, mobility).
• Prepare and organize classroom materials and learning centers under teacher direction.
• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and non-instructional times.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and staff to maintain a supportive learning environment.
• Collect and record data on student progress and behavior as directed by the teacher.
• Participate in professional development and staff meetings.

We are seeking an Elementary Teaching Assistant to work in ourComprehensive Skills Class to supportthe classroom teacher in providing individualized instruction and assistance to students with diverse learning needs at PBES. This position plays a key role in helping students develop academic, social, communication, and daily living skills in a supportive and inclusive environment. The teaching assistant works collaboratively with the teacher and related service providers to ensure each student has access to meaningful and appropriate learning experiences.

Responsibilities:

• Support the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students.


• Assist in delivering instructional activities, reinforcing lessons, and supporting small-group or one-on-one learning.


• Support students in developing independence in academic, social, and self-help skills.


• Provide behavioral and emotional support using positive reinforcement and behavior management strategies.


• Assist students with personal care needs as required (e.g., toileting, feeding, mobility).


• Prepare and organize classroom materials and learning centers under the direction of the teacher.


• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other non-instructional times.


• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to maintain a consistent and supportive learning environment.
