SEL Program Teacher Assistant - Spoede Elementary

Job Summary

The SEL Program Teacher Assistant supports student learning by implementing instructional and behavioral strategies, fostering independence, and promoting an inclusive classroom environment. Working closely with the instructional teacher, they assist with academics, and social development, while adapting materials and collecting data. This role also includes modeling appropriate communication, preparing learning resources, implementing behavior plans and assisting with behaviors related to social emotional learning. Through collaboration and professional growth, the teacher assistant helps create a supportive learning community for all students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implements and adapts instructional and behavioral strategies developed by the instructional team to support academic, social, and behavioral growth
• Demonstrates respect for and appreciation of diverse values, languages, abilities, cultures, and customs within the home, school, and community
• Applies inclusive practices to create a supportive learning environment
• Seeks and utilizes information about the students they support
• Encourages student choice, voice, and self-advocacy to foster inclusive classroom communities
• Uses individualized reinforcement systems and modifies the environment as determined by the instructional team
• Models and teaches appropriate self-regulation strategies, communication and language skills
• Collects and records accurate student data as directed by the instructional team
• Follows written lesson plans and schedules
• Prepares and organizes materials to enhance teaching and learning
• Engages in professional development focused on specialized instruction, inclusive practices, and equity
• Notifies the teacher of any concerns or special needs related to individual students
• Participates as a member of the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention team.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children/studentsrequired
• Preference given to candidates with an active Missouri Teacher Certification or actively pursuing a Teacher Certification
• Substitute Missouri Teacher Certification (minimum) required

Compensation and Benefits

The starting hourly rate is $18.78 (teacher assistant specific) depending on education, certification and experience. The maximum hourly rate for this position is $20.66. Benefits are offered with a full-time position.
