Job summary

Soulard School in St. Louis City seeks a part-time Elementary classroom and student aide for the 2026-27 school year. This role provides general classroom assistance, lunch supervision, and one-on-one support to students with special education needs.

Position offers a set weekly schedule of 20-29 hours, typically 9:00-3:00, with hourly pay $20-$22 and paid time off. Immediate start preferred.

Qualifications

• College degree and elementary setting experience preferred.
• Passing Paraprofessional Assessment or 60+ hours college credits required.
• Warm, supportive attitude toward working with children and families.
• Reliable attendance.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Physically able to perform duties of a teacher of young children.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support for students with special education needs in the regular classroom.
• Support classroom and/or extended core teachers – PE, Studio Art, Performing Arts/Strings, Nutrition and STEAM.
• Supervise lunches and daily recess.
• Collaborate with Special Education Coordinator and teachers to progress toward IEP goals.
• Collect data and follow protocols for students as directed.

Job description

The Soulard School, a small public charter school in St. Louis City, is seeking a part-time Elementary classroom and student aide to join our school community for the 2026-27 school year. This role would provide general assistance to classrooms and help supervise lunches, as well as also include scheduled one-on-one support to students in the classroom with special education needs. Position would be a set weekly schedule of 20-29 hours/week.

Major Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support for students with special education needs within the regular classroom.
• Support classroom and/or “extended core” teachers - PE, Studio Art, Performing Arts/Strings, Nutrition and STEAM.
• Provide supervision during daily recess and lunches.
• Collaborate with Special Education Coordinator and classroom teachers to ensure that the student(s) make(s) progress toward academic, behavioral and social goals as established in an IEP.
• Collect data and follow protocols for student(s) as directed by the Special Education Coordinator.

Education and Experience

• College degree and experience in elementary setting preferred
• Passing score on Paraprofessional Assessment test, or documentation of 60+ hours of college credit required.

General Pay and Contract Provisions

• Hourly position with set weekly schedule of 20-29 hours/week depending on availability and duties, with hours primarily 9:00-3:00.
• To begin as soon as possible.
• Hourly rate depending on experience, $20-22/hour.
• Position includes paid time off.
