Job summary

Central Falls School District is seeking a compassionate Certified Teacher Assistant for Veterans Memorial Elementary School for the 26/27 school year. This 10-month paraprofessional position supports teachers, assists in small groups, and helps maintain a safe, positive learning environment.

The candidate must meet district requirements and be ready to start immediately, with a strong emphasis on equity, empowerment, and excellence in instruction.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and required degree and/or passing ParaPro Assessment and Teacher Assistant Training Program.
• Experience in an educational environment with similar-aged students preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention Certification required.
• Fit for Duty assessment before onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in the daily functioning of the classroom.
• Assist in individual, small group, and class activities under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Ensure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
• Assist with care of students during transfers for those with physical/developmental impairments.
• Assist with meals, dressing, health, hygiene, and toileting as needed.
• Prepare materials and equipment for classroom instruction; assist with adaptive equipment/programs.
• May assist in parental contact and community relations for specific students.
• Support other children in the assigned classroom as needed.
• Log time worked and absences via the employee portal daily.
• Interact with staff, parents, students, and others outside the school system.
• Assist principal and classroom teacher in administrative, supervisory, clerical duties.
