Job summary

Cheektowaga Central School District is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Grade 8 at the Middle School to maintain continuity of the educational program during the regular teacher's absence. The successful candidate will deliver standards-based instruction, foster a positive learning environment, assess progress, and collaborate with families, staff, and administrators.

The role requires a valid New York State Teaching Certificate in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) or equivalent

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Teaching Certificate in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) or appropriate certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in all assigned subject areas in accordance with New York State Learning Standards and district curriculum.
• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the regular classroom teacher and/or develop lesson plans as needed.
• Establish and maintain a safe, positive, and engaging classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of all students.
• Monitor, assess, and document student progress and achievement.
• Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student records.
• Utilize instructional technology and district-approved educational resources to enhance student learning.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administrators regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, intervention specialists, counselors, and related service providers.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, parent conferences, and other school-related functions as directed.
• Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional periods as assigned.
• Follow all district policies, procedures, and student conduct expectations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.

Reports To: Building Principal

Position Summary

The Long-Term Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and maintaining continuity of the educational program for Grade 8 students during the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
