Job summary

Southampton Elementary School is seeking Permanent Substitute Teachers to provide instructional support and classroom coverage throughout the school year. This role is Per Diem with an assignment period from September 2, 2026 to June 25, 2027 at Southampton Elementary School.

Three positions are available. Responsibilities include instruction, supervision, and implementing lesson plans in the absence of the regular teacher, while maintaining a positive learning environment in a supportive school

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Teaching Certification.
• Experience working with elementary aged students preferred.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to adapt to a variety of grade levels and subject areas.
• Demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and productive learning environment.
• Follow school procedures for attendance, classroom management, and student supervision.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Building Principal.

Permanent Substitute Teachers play an important role in maintaining continuity of instruction by providing consistent classroom supervision, implementing lesson plans, and supporting a positive learning environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
