Job summary

Great Hearts Academies seeks a dedicated Archway Teacher for Great Hearts Lake Charles to lead homeroom instruction with a focus on a classical liberal arts curriculum. You will guide students in a nurturing classroom and partner with an Assistant Teacher to deliver engaging lessons in history, science, literature, and math.

With a commitment to truth, goodness, and beauty, you will monitor student progress, communicate with families, and participate in ongoing professional growth opportunities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required for lead teaching role.
• Certification not required for general education.
• All majors welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide welcoming, nurturing homeroom environment.
• Teach with Great Hearts curriculum across History, Science, Literature, Math, and phonics.
• Work with an Assistant/Apprentice Teacher in the classroom.
• Prepare thoughtful lessons and maintain an orderly, joyful classroom.
• Monitor student progress and address academic/behavioral needs with leadership support.
• Uphold school culture, dress code, and safety procedures.
• Communicate with families and schedule conferences as needed.
• Participate in faculty collaboration and school events.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• As a Homeroom Teacher you provide a welcoming and nurturing classroom that guides students to build a deep sense of wonder and a love of learning.
• Curricular elements include Spalding Phonics, Singapore Mathematics, as well as rich content in History, Science, and Literature.
• As a Homeroom Teacher you enjoy the support of an Assistant/Apprentice Teacher in your classroom.
• Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
• Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
• Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
• Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.

Required/Preferred Education:
