Job summary

Middletown Christian Schools in Ohio is seeking an Elementary Teacher for the 26-27 school year. The full-time, nine-month role reports to the Elementary Principal and requires an Ohio teaching license or equivalent licensure; ACSI certification may be obtained after hire.

The teacher will deliver Christ-centered instruction, develop lessons, assess progress, and integrate technology while aligning with our biblical worldview and Grace Baptist Church leadership.

Qualifications

  • Background check: acceptable BCI and FBI report.
  • Public profess a faith in Jesus Christ and active church involvement.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a Christ-centered, hands-on approach to education.
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with MCS curriculum and differentiate instruction.
  • Incorporate current technology to enhance learning.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and speech with students, parents, and staff.
  • Uphold school rules, policies, and the Code of Conduct.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
  • Assist with IEP conferences and collaboration with Intervention team.

License/Certification:Teaching license- Ohio teacher or non-tax licensure: ACSI teaching certificate is required; however, it may be obtained after hire.

Teacher Responsibilities
  • Deliver a Christ-centered, hands on, and experimentalapproach to education.
  • Engage with professional learning that promotes collaboration.
  • Develop lesson plans in accordance with the MCS curriculum.
  • Incorporate multidisciplinarylesson planning.
  • Understand that there is an ongoing process of development for innovative practices in education, and work to stay current with teaching methods.
  • Use and interpret student data, including formative and summative assessments to monitor learning as well as develop and implement differentiated lessons for students.
  • Incorporate current technology into instruction to enhance student learning when appropriate.
  • Communicateeffectivelyboth orally andin writing.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner: personable, well-organized, self-initiating, and attentive to details.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board Policy.
  • Utilize pedagogical approaches that include but are not limited to Socratic questioning, adult and peer coaching, peer presentations, problem-based learning, inquiry methods, and other forms of active learning.
  • Prepare substitute teacher’s folder to help ensure a smooth delivery of the daily lesson plan in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Attend IEP conferences when necessary. Work cooperatively with the Intervention team in assessing student needs and learning deficiencies,and develop alternative solutions to remediate student learning and behavior problems.
  • Attend staff meetings and district professional development programs. Participate in grade level/departmental and teacher/principal conferences as scheduled.
  • Enforce the Code of Conduct governing students in his/her direct charge and for assuming authority, as warranted, over other students in such areas as school hallways, cafeteria, chapel, assemblies or other activities during the school day.
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining a classroomenvironment conducive to learning for all students.
  • Conduct conferences with individual students and/or parents when deemed necessary or upon request.
  • Actively and cooperatively participate in the required teacher evaluation process.
  • Communicate about the educational program at MCS to the community in a positive, professional manner.
  • Uphold MCS’ policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
Additional working conditions may include
  • Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
  • Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
  • May have interaction with an unruly student.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to a maximum of 40 pounds (100 pounds on wheels), e.g., paper boxes, deliveries of supplies and equipment.
  • Travels to meetings/professional development and work assignments.
