Overview

This Elective Teacher plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality, Christ-centered education to students, focusing on elective subjects such as art, nature studies, and physical education. The teacher is responsible for designing and delivering developmentally appropriate lessons that foster curiosity, imagination, movement, and discovery in a nurturing and structured environment. This role integrates biblical principles throughout instruction and encourages students to grow in confidence, cooperation, creativity, and joy in learning as they explore the world around them.

Essential Functions, Tasks, and Responsibilities
  • Implement age-appropriate curriculum for K–2 art, nature studies, and physical education that promotes creativity, physical development, curiosity, and foundational learning skills.
  • Facilitate engaging art experiences that allow students to explore color, texture, shape, creativity, and self-expression through a variety of mediums and techniques.
  • Lead outdoor and indoor nature-based learning experiences that encourage students to observe, explore, and appreciate God’s creation.
  • Plan and facilitate age-appropriate physical education activities that develop gross motor skills, coordination, balance, and healthy movement habits.
  • Integrate storytelling, creativity, movement, and hands‑on exploration across all elective areas to support holistic development of young learners.
  • Create a safe, structured, and joyful classroom environment that supports active participation and age‑appropriate independence.
  • Encourage social‑emotional development through cooperation, sharing, turn‑taking, and positive peer interactions.
  • Provide clear instruction, modeling, and guided practice to support early learners in understanding routines and expectations.
  • Assess student participation, effort, creativity, and skill development through observation, projects, and participation, and record timely grades in the student information database.
  • Provide positive feedback and encouragement to help students build confidence and enthusiasm for learning.
  • Incorporate principles of faith and biblical integration into instruction, emphasizing God as Creator, stewardship, gratitude, and loving others through play and creativity.
  • Foster open communication with parents, keeping them informed about students’ progress and classroom experiences when necessary.
  • Maintain a classroom atmosphere that promotes engagement, safety, respect, and joy in learning through movement and creativity.
  • Provide supervision of students during indoor or outdoor recess and/or lunch activities, ensuring the students’ safety and adherence to school rules.
  • Assist in the orderly dismissal of students, as needed, maintaining a secure and organized transition from the classroom to car line.
  • Ensure adherence to school policies and maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and other relevant data.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as requested.
  • Perform any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by school administrators.

Required Qualifications

  • 4-year degree from a college, university, or Bible school.

  • Able to supervise students during indoor and outdoor activities in varying weather conditions.
