Job summary

Avondale School District is seeking a motivated Elementary District Substitute Teacher to engage elementary learners across buildings. You will deliver instruction, support lesson plans, and adapt activities to students’ needs while maintaining classroom management and safety.

The role emphasizes collaboration with educators, ongoing professional development, and a flexible schedule to cover substitute needs in the district.

Qualifications

• Transcripts with a total of 60+ credit hours and a minimum 2.0 GPA from accredited colleges/universities.
• Temporary Teaching Authorization.
• Current Michigan Teaching Certificate (Substitute Permit not required).
• Expired Michigan Teaching Certificate.
• Out of State Teaching Certificate accompanied by 60+ credit hours and a minimum 2.0 GPA.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with selection of appropriate academic courses.
• Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to student needs.
• Maintain control of storage and use of school-owned property.
• Participate in ongoing professional growth activities.
• Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal/superintendent/designee.
