Job summary

Springfield Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional I to support the instructional program in an assigned classroom within the Elementary Learning department.

Under supervision of a certified teacher, you will assist students individually and in small groups, reinforce learning objectives, perform clerical tasks, and help maintain a safe, orderly learning environment. A Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate is required with 60 college hours completed.

Qualifications

• 60 college hours completed.
• Job-related experience preferred.
• Must obtain Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate.
• Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Adapt and administer classroom activities under supervising teacher.
• Assist students individually and in small groups with lessons.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and convey information relevant to job functions.
• Communicate with teachers regarding student progress and needs.
• Implement interventions under supervision of the teacher.
• Maintain manual and electronic files and records.
• Monitor students to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
• Perform general clerical duties supporting the instructional program.
• Report health and safety issues to staff and appropriate agencies.
• Respond to emergencies and direct to appropriate personnel.
• Perform other related duties as required/assigned.
