Job summary

Springfield Public Schools in Springfield, MO is seeking a Paraprofessional I to support instructional programs in an elementary classroom. You will work with individual and small groups, reinforce learning objectives, and assist teachers with clerical tasks to keep the classroom running smoothly.

The ideal candidate has at least 60 college hours, may have related experience, and will obtain Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate and pass a criminal background check.

Qualifications

• Sixty (60) college hours completed.
• Job related experience is preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate.
• Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Adapt and administer classroom activities, assignments, make-up work and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher.
• Assist students, individually and in small groups, with lesson assignments and learning concepts.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and convey information relative to job functions.
• Communicate with teachers regarding student progress and needs assessments.
• Implement interventions under supervision to reinforce learning concepts.
• Maintain manual and electronic files and records.
• Monitor students in various settings to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Perform general clerical functions supporting the instructional program.
• Report health and safety issues to appropriate personnel and agencies.
• Respond to emergency situations and direct to appropriate personnel.
• Perform other related duties as required.
