Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an Elementary Teacher for a 0.1 FTE, one-year position in Olympia, Washington. The role requires delivering district-approved curriculum, documenting student progress, and maintaining a safe, engaging learning environment focused on STEM.

The position works every Friday for 3.5 hours. You will integrate project-based learning, outdoor education and collaboration with staff, parents and administration to support student success and goals under the applicable collective

Qualifications

• Experience Required: Prior job-related experience.
• Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: ability to motivate students, communicate with diverse backgrounds, direct support personnel, evaluate performance.
• Abilities to perform a variety of specialized tasks and maintain records, meet schedules and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Advises parents/guardians of student progress to support expectations and home learning goals.
• Assess students to provide feedback on progress, goals and outcomes.
• Collaborates with school personnel, parents and community agencies to improve student outcomes and plan curriculum.
• Directs instructional assistants/volunteers to implement an effective program.
• Instructs students to improve academic, interpersonal and daily living skills.
• Monitors student activities to maintain a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Prepares teaching materials and reports for lesson plans and progress documentation.
• Reports incidents to maintain safety and adhere to policies.
