Position Summary: Sisters School District is seeking a Limited Duration, Full-time STEM Teacher for Sisters Elementary School. This is an eight (8) hour per day position, Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 3:30pm.

The STEM teacher provides age-appropriate, engaging STEM instruction for students in grades K–5. The teacher creates hands-on learning experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and exploration across science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The STEM teacher is responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons that are accessible and engaging for students at a variety of developmental levels. This position requires a strong relationship builder who creates a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable experimenting, asking questions, solving problems, and learning from mistakes.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong classroom management, and the ability to make STEM learning fun, meaningful, and relevant for elementary students.

STEM Knowledge and Instruction

• Plans and delivers engaging, age-appropriate STEM instruction for students in grades K–5.
• Uses relevant NGSS standards and mathematical practices to guide instruction.
• Understands the developmental characteristics and learning needs of elementary-aged students and adjusts instruction accordingly.
• Uses effective instructional practices to make STEM learning accessible, meaningful, and enjoyable for all students.
• Incorporates appropriate technology, tools, materials, and hands-on experiences into STEM instruction.

Instructional Practices

• Creates a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment where students are encouraged to explore, experiment, ask questions, and learn from mistakes.
• Designs hands-on STEM experiences that promote curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving.
• Provides developmentally appropriate learning experiences across science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
• Incorporates engineering design and design-thinking opportunities when appropriate.
• Connects STEM learning to real-world experiences and applications.
• Provides clear expectations, routines, and classroom management appropriate for students in grades K–5.
• Adapts lessons and activities to meet a range of student abilities and learning needs.
• Uses available school resources and learning spaces, such as the school garden, greenhouse, outdoor spaces, and STEM materials, when appropriate.

Collaboration and School Community

• Works positively and cooperatively with classroom teachers, specialists, educational assistants, and other school staff.
• Communicates effectively with students, staff, families, and community partners.
• Collaborates with classroom teachers when appropriate to make connections between STEM instruction and classroom learning.
• Participates as an active member of the school staff and specialist team.
• Works with community partners when opportunities are available to provide meaningful STEM experiences for students.
• Demonstrates flexibility, professionalism, and a willingness to contribute to a positive school culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other related duties may be assigned.

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the time designated.
• Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning with the limits of the resources provided by the district, showing respect, consideration and fairness towards students of varying learning levels, abilities, and needs.
• Prepares for classes assigned, and shows evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media in coordination with the district’s curriculum program and consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all learning activities and challenges students to think and express their thoughts through engaging lessons and activities.
• Evaluates student progress on a regular basis and helps students set achievement expectations and evaluate their own progress.
• Takes all reasonable precautions to provide for health and safety of the students and to protect equipment, material, and facilities.
• Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents and fellow teachers concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of students.
• Assists in determining and evaluating educational goals consistent with educational requirements and district philosophy and strives to implement those goals by instruction and action.
• Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods, and the development of district curriculum.
• Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Assists the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Participates in and is responsible for the management and supervision of the conduct of students.
• Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
• Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular or other school related activities as assigned or requested.
• Strives to achieve professional growth through an ongoing program designed to supplement and enhance teacher ability.
• Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students, school and district policies.
• Performs other duties as required by the district.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Must have valid TSPC Oregon Elementary Teaching License.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree; at least five years teaching experience.
• Previous STEM instructional experiences.
• Math, science, technology or STEM college coursework or endorsement.

Salary: $50,442.00 - $93,222.00 annually (2026 – 2027 certified salary schedule). Based upon education, training and prior work experience. Excellent benefits package and Employer-paid PERS provided for qualified team members.

Contract Days: 190 days and pro-rated for the remainder of the 2026 2027 school year.
