Job summary

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) is seeking a Special Education Teacher-Elementary in Houston, TX. This role focuses on planning and implementing IEPs, collaborating with families and school staff, and delivering engaging, individualized instruction in a positive learning environment.

The ideal candidate holds SPED EC-12 and Core EC-6 licenses and a TX Special Education Certificate, with experience in IEP development and related meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Licenses reflecting SPED EC-12 and Core EC-6.
• Shall possess a Special Education Certificate (TX DOE requirements).
• Shall have experience with IEP writing, meetings etc.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for each student.
• Communicate with staff and family about progress and struggles.
• Prepare detailed lesson plans and submit them for approval.
• Participate in IEP meetings as scheduled by the school.
• Use individualized reinforcement techniques to guide students.
• Invite family members to participate in progress.
• Create and distribute progress reports quarterly.
• Confer with on-site therapist regarding disciplinary/behavioral issues.
• Create a safe, productive classroom environment.

Education
