Job summary

Avon Elementary in Minnesota is seeking a caring, student-centered Long-Term Substitute Elementary Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs. You will plan specialized instruction based on IEPs, adapt lessons, monitor progress, and collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, families, and other professionals.

Anticipated start in mid-January 2027 and end mid-May 2027.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Special Education or anticipated graduation with a degree in Special Education in December 2026.
Knowledge of IEP development and implementation and strategies for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Plan and provide specialized instruction based on students' IEPs.
Develop and adapt lessons and materials to support student learning.
Monitor student progress and adjust instruction and interventions.
Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, families, and other professionals.
Participate in IEP meetings and assist with evaluations, documentation, and required special education paperwork.
Maintain accurate student records and ensure timelines and procedures are followed.
Provide guidance to paraprofessionals working with students.
Respond to student behavioral needs and follow safety procedures.
