Job summary

Uncommon Schools seeks an Special Education teacher to develop and monitor accommodations for students with special needs in urban K-12 settings.

You will advocate for students and collaborate with families, IEP teams, and general education teachers to ensure compliant, effective instruction and inclusive learning environments. We provide coaching, professional development, and a strong support network to educators.

Qualifications

• Commitment to supporting students’ social emotional and academic development.
• Enthusiasm for collaborating with internal and external partners in the best interest of students.
• Self-directed learner who sollicits and implements feedback to improve outcomes.
• Academic expertise in Special Education or related fields; degree and eligibility requirements as stated.

Responsibilities

• Modify, differentiate, and teach an inclusive curriculum with 504 plans and IEPs.
• Manage a caseload of IEPs, gather growth data, write IEPs, and participate in IEP meetings.
• Build positive relationships with students and families; participate in weekly school-wide meetings to promote community and values.
