Job summary

AHS Staffing is seeking a School Services School Special Education Teacher for a local contract in Olympia, WA. The role is a full-time 1.0 FTE position for the 2026-2027 school year, with a schedule of 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

and a 41-week contract from September 3, 2026 to June 10, 2027. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Special Education, a Washington Professional Educator Certificate, and a valid SPED endorsement, with experience in IEPs and behavioral supports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education is required.
• Current Washington Professional Educator Certificate is required.
• Appropriate Special Education endorsement is required.
• Knowledge of IEP development, differentiated instruction, and behavioral-support strategies.
• Ability to support students with significant behavioral and social-emotional needs.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom-management skills.
• Previous school-based special education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Adapt lessons to meet student needs and IEP goals.
• Provide specially designed instruction in one-on-one and small-group settings.
• Lead IEP meetings and contribute to IEP revisions.
• Create and implement Behavior Intervention Plans and supports.
• Use positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies.
• Create visual supports, schedules, and reward systems.
• Collect data to monitor progress in academics, behavior, and social-emotional areas.
• Collaborate with families, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and school staff.
• Maintain a structured, safe, and positive learning environment.
