Job summary

Providence Public Schools seeks an exceptional Elementary Special Education Self-Contained Alternate (SCA) teacher to join our district. This role requires proficiency in Structured Literacy within one year of hire and collaboration with families and staff to support students with diverse needs.

The position involves administering district curriculum, designing individualized instruction, coordinating IEPs, and complying with RI regulations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in the applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
RIDE Certification: All Grades Special Education - Severe Intellectual Disability, PK-12.
ESL Certification Preferred

Responsibilities

Administer district curriculum aligned with RI State Standards.
Provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities.
Collaborate with SPED program managers, BCBA, and other staff to meet IEP goals.
Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans within regulatory timelines.
Prepare progress reports per RI regulations and monitor student goals.
Ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment and assist with data input for Medicaid claiming.
Maintain a web-based portfolio and outcomes data for assigned students.
