Job summary

27J Schools in the Denver metro area is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional for elementary intensive support at Thimmig Elementary. The role provides direct academic and behavioral support to students with severe disabilities, under supervision of the Special Education team.

The position covers 8.5 hours per day, Tuesday through Friday, with a 9-month schedule paid over 12 months. Classifications include benefits eligibility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with students with social/emotional disabilities preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or obtainable within 2 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and/or academic support and supervision for students with social/emotional disabilities.
• Modify academic materials and adapt the classroom environment as directed by the Special Education teacher.
• Identify and support peer relationships and natural supports.
• Follow through with behavior intervention plans to ensure safety and consistency.
• Maintain required forms and records for the classroom.
• De-escalate students using CPI measures as prescribed.
• Communicate observations and progress with teachers and therapists.
• Assist with minor clerical duties as needed.
• Attend trainings and student staffing as required.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and follow the special education team’s direction.
• Follow daily routines and schedules for consistency across students.
