Job summary

Greenwood Community Schools is seeking a dedicated Special Education Assistant for Westwood Elementary School. This individual will provide instructional and behavioral support to K-5 students with disabilities, aiding their academic and social-emotional development.

With 29 hours weekly from 8:45 to 11:45 am, you will work under the supervision of special education teachers and play a vital role in helping students meet IEP goals. Experience with special needs children and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, especially those with special needs, is highly desirable.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and flexible in dynamic situations.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support to students with disabilities under the direction of special education teachers.
• Implement accommodations, modifications, and individualized behavior and academic plans.
• Support students in both general education and special education settings.
• Assist with classroom management, transitions, and organization.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers.
• Foster a supportive, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow district and legal guidelines regarding student information.
