Job summary

Ho-Ho-Kus Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to serve as a maternity leave replacement at the elementary level. The role includes providing instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs across multiple grade levels, with co-teaching in general education classrooms and multisensory reading interventions.

The successful candidate will deliver instruction and monitor progress toward IEP goals, collaborating with teams and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Valid Special Education Teaching Certification.
• Experience with elementary-aged students preferred.
• Knowledge of multisensory reading programs is strongly preferred.
• Experience with co-teaching and differentiated instruction.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with general education teachers to plan and implement effective co-teaching models in inclusive classrooms.
• Provide small-group and individualized instruction in a resource room setting.
• Deliver multisensory reading instruction using structured literacy approaches.
• Support student growth in reading, writing, and mathematics aligned with IEP goals.
• Modify and adapt curriculum materials to meet diverse learning needs.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of performance and interventions.
• Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and parent conferences as needed.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
