Job summary

Holmdel Township Public Schools seeks a Special Education Teacher for Village School - Elementary PreK-3. The role focuses on planning and implementing instructional programs for students with educational disabilities, aligned to IEPs, and collaboration with Child Study Team and families.

Requirements include a valid New Jersey certificate as Teacher of the Handicapped, strong problem solving and communication skills, and the ability to conduct required criminal history checks.

Qualifications

• Holds valid New Jersey certificate as Teacher of the Handicapped.
• Demonstrates effective problem solving, communications, organization, planning, record keeping and human relations skills.
• Successfully completes required criminal history check and has proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

Responsibilities

• Participates with Child Study Team members and parents in constructing IEPs for classified students.
• Attends reviews of IEPs as required and participates in such reviews.
• Selects instructional materials and media based on IEP goals and objectives.
• Devises a time schedule for instruction of each classified student.
• Maintains copies of instructional schedules for director and principal.
• Prepares for classes and shows evidence of preparation upon request.
• Participates in curriculum planning during designated meetings.
• Protects supplies, equipment and facilities to support planned instruction.
• Delivers instruction and meets students in accordance with IEP, school philosophy and goals.
• Assesses student progress toward goals and maintains records as required.
• Directs aides and monitors in the Special Education classroom.
