Job summary

Lake Forest School District is seeking an Elementary Special Education teacher to create an inclusive classroom environment and implement individualized instruction aligned with IEPs.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the IEP team and related staff, ongoing assessment, and effective communication with families. The position is ten months per school year, with salary determined by the Board of Education and applicable policies.

Qualifications

• Excellent organizational and management skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• Experience collaborating with special education teams and IEP processes.

Responsibilities

• Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics and science to pupils using approved curricula.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship and subject matter per state law and district regulations.
• Works with the Special Education Coordinator, Related Service Staff, and IEP Team to develop specialized instruction for students with special needs.
• Provides progress reports as required.
• Develops lesson plans and provides specialized, individualized and small group instruction per IEP.
• Establishes and maintains classroom behavior standards to support learning.
• Evaluates pupils' progress and maintains records; prepares progress reports.
• Communicates with parents to discuss pupil progress and program interpretation.
