Job summary

Hillsdale Community Schools is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join Gier Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will work with staff and families to provide individualized instruction and support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.

The ideal candidate will hold a Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Special Education Endorsement (EI/CI preferred) and demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills

Qualifications

Valid Michigan teaching certificate with a special education endorsement.
EI or CI endorsement preferred.
Compliance with federal and state qualification requirements.
Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
Commitment to supporting the individual needs of elementary students.

Responsibilities

Provide specially designed instruction that meets students’ individual learning needs.
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to promote student success.
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements.
